To-Do List Update 30.01

Thought of revisiting the old doc and updating it a bit – just article 3 though.  Good news: we’re almost done.  Hopefully there won’t be many revisions in the future.

Article 3 [State Goals]
In order to attain the objectives specified in Article 2, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has the duty of directing all its resources to the following goals:

1) the creation of a favorable environment for the growth of moral virtues based on faith and piety and the struggle against all forms of vice and corruption;
Done.  Vice and corruption completely eradicated in society.  Righteous people of Iran living in complete harmony.

2) raising the level of public awareness in all areas, through the proper use of the press, mass media, and other means;
Done. (Note: Full transparency philosophy was greatest contributor in reaching this goal). Instances of improper use of media outlets, mostly periodicals and blogs, dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

3) free education and physical training for everyone at all levels, and the facilitation and expansion of higher education;
Done.  Few cases of public schools requiring funds from parents for admission reported. Calls to the principals of these schools revealed reports to be baseless.  Free physical training available to all in the form of public gyms and parks, at every neighborhood corner.

4) strengthening the spirit of inquiry, investigation, and innovation in all areas of science, technology, and culture, as well as Islamic studies, by establishing research centers and encouraging researchers;
Done. National institutions of higher education overflowing with curious researchers. According to the latest iTanz report, 97% of important scientists in 99% of world’s science and research centers are Iranians.  See scientific technological contributions of Iran to the world in the past three decades.

5) the complete elimination of imperialism and the prevention of foreign influence;
Done. This was a no-brainer.  Just needed to modify the rhetoric and get some sanctions into effect.

6) the elimination of all forms of despotism and autocracy and all attempts to monopolize power;
Done. True democracy overnight on eve of Islamic Republic’s formation.  Unprecedented in history.  Gradual distribution of economic and political power to over two hundred families in the years after that.

7) ensuring political and social freedoms within the framework of the law;
Done.  Been really by the book on this one. Reports from outside organizations, such as the UN, merely propaganda designed to undermine revolution.  (Ugh…we’re never going to be rid of these.)

8) the participation of the entire people in determining their political, economic, social, and cultural destiny;
Mostly done.  Depends on definition.
a) If “non-participation” considered a form of participation, article 8 can be removed altogether.  People “participate” in determining their destiny one way or another. It’s a given.
b) If we want to keep this, a revision may be required.  Usage of “entire” may not be realistic.
Ask for clarification.

9) the abolition of all forms of undesirable discrimination and the provision of equitable opportunities for all, in both the material and the intellectual spheres;
Done. Only desirable forms of discrimination practiced in the country.  We are now known by many as the land of opportunity.  Influx of Afghan immigrants evidence to this.

10) the creation of a correct administrative system and elimination of superfluous government organizations;
Done.  Administrative bureaucracy at minimum possible. Corruption-free environment. Organizations deemed to be “a hair in the nose”, such as the Planning and Budget Organization, eliminated.

11) all round strengthening of the foundations of national defence to the utmost degree by means of universal military training for the sake of safeguarding the independence, territorial integrity, and the Islamic order of the country;
Almost done.  School military training programs in effect for many years.  Need better oversight in implementation. We are somewhat short of the twenty million soldiers required for army.

12) the planning of a correct and just economic system, in accordance with Islamic criteria, in order to create welfare, eliminate poverty, and abolish all forms of deprivation with respect to food, housing, work, health care, and the provision of social insurance for all;
Done. Economy robust. No longer entirely sustained by oil. Oil revenues channeled into reserve funds for rainy day.  Industries flourishing and exports on the rise. Recent reports indicate inflation and unemployment rates at 0.00%.  Poverty completely eradicated. Recent poverty line drawn at $700/month completely arbitrary, useless, and work of unbelievers. We are a nation of “haves” regarding the above items.  Real estate comparable to New York’s at this time.
Note: One thorn in side is the issue of bank interests.  Some claim it not to be according to Islamic criteria.  Need clarification.

13) the attainment of self-sufficiency in scientific, technological, industrial, agricultural, and military domains, and other similar spheres;
Done.  Imports of all forms of goods to Iran halted.  Everything produced in-house from rice to rocket engines.  Transformation of Iran from total consumerism to total producerism complete.  (Using the term in the abstract and British sense).

14) securing the multifarious rights of all citizens, both women and men, and providing legal protection for all, as well as the equality of all before the law;
Done. No-brainer.

15) the expansion and strengthening of Islamic brotherhood and public cooperation among all the people;
Done. Unity, brotherly-sisterly love of Iranians for one another, envy of the world.

16) framing the foreign policy of the country on the basis of Islamic criteria, fraternal commitment to all Muslims, and unsparing support to the freedom fighters of the world.
Done. Iran’s brand of Islam spreading in region with increasing speed over the past decades.  Kudos to marketing team. Accounts created for all freedom fighters in the world, with larger transactions for Muslim brothers, funded by considerable economic surplus available.
